Elan are very proud to have been selected as an approved supplier of PC Card Adapters to Hewlett Packard. ELAN were selected because HP was impressed with the quality of their products and appreciated the level of their support.

Use your 3G Datacard on a Desktop PC with an Elan Adapter

Wireless internet access using GSM type networks is becoming increasingly popular for notebook computers, and is now in demand as a solution for desktop PCs.  Elan's PSeries support all PCMCIA compliant cards, including GPRS, UMTS, CDMA and EDGE cards so are ideal to allow you to use your 3G card in your desktop PC. Any PSeries model works with 3G cards, although some of these models are CardBus (32-Bit) so work only in rear slot models (such as P111, P222, P311 or P416). All PCMCIA complaint cards are supported, but you might be interested to know that Elan has tested with cards made by the following manufacturers: Option, Novatel Wireless, Sierra Wireless. Please click here for the details => Latest Driver Support !

P111 - 1 x CardBus rear

The P111 is perfect for use with Wireless LAN cards like WiFi / 802.11b or any of the newly emerging 802.11a or 802.11g standards.  It also suits Bluetooth cards or other functions where the ability to occasionally remove the card is important, but where during normal use the rear facing aspect of the slot suits its operation.

The new P111 supports 5V and 3.3V PCI slots too !

Unlike other PCI adapters for PC Cards, the Elan adapters do not use an extra "ISA paddle board" to support I/O cards and they do not use polling methods in-place of hardware IRQs.  That's why our adapters work in Windows 95(osr2+), 98, 98SE, Millennium Edition, NT4, 2000, XP, MacOS9 and Linux (and *DOS too if required - Available on request by e-mail)!

Uses industry standard 1410/1420 controller chip, proven on all classes of processor, chipset and motherboard manufacturer.  Yenta compliant, PCI2.2 compliant, PC99 compliant.  Supports sleep and suspend modes.  Intel 82365 compatible register set

For more information about the latest Linux support please click here !

The P111 is also ideal for using any of our range of Comms or DAQ PC Cards on a desktop.

*DOS support requires Card and Socket services, e.g. CardWare from APSoft see http://www.tssc.de

P311 - 1 x CardBus rear -  supports "low-profile" PCI slots !

The P311 "low-profile" Adaptor is recommended for Systems Integrators and OEMs only due to the non-standard "volume envelope" that is required around the host's PCI connector.

The P311 supports 5V and 3.3V PCI slots too !

To cater for the latest generation of Low Profile PCs that can only use Low Profile PCI add-in boards, Elan has created the P311. This model, from the P-Series range, features a Cardbus Type II slot and a circuit board that conforms to the MD1 profile specification.  It will allow you to use any TypeI or TypeII PCMCIA or Cardbus card.  Due to the space restrictions of Low Profile PCs and the relatively large size of PCMCIA cards, the P311 may not be mechanically compatible with every motherboard, although typically at least one PCI connector will have suitable free space around it to use the P311.  Please see below for further details.

This photograph shows an installed P311 drive and illustrates how the PC card slot is mounted on a daughter board which sits between the PCI board and the next adjacent PCI slot.

Also available is a dimensions diagram in PDF format (10.8K) which can be read with Adobe Acrobat Reader.

PC2PCE

The PC2PCE extender board allows PCMCIA or Cardbus cards to be tested and debugged in a PC-Card slot. Typically this extender is for use in a development or production environment. The extender routes all 68 signals via pin-headers for DSO or Logic Analyzer connection.  There is a micro-switch to allow CD1# to be momentarily broken, simulating a card ejection / insertion, and a unique activity LED to show when 16-bit bus cycles are reaching the card.

The extender also features a power LED to show when the card is live, and uses a full size TypeI, II or III compatible 3.3v / 5v keyed PCMCIA / Cardbus connector with an ejector lever to make card extraction simple.  The area under the PCMCIA connector is cut away to allow access to the back of an un-framed card.

A four layer PCB with GND flood on all planes ensures excellent signal propagation.  For current consumption measurements, a 2-pin header is provided to allow Vcc to be broken and an ammeter inserted.  Ceramic bypass capacitors at the PCMCIA connector ensure clean Vcc and Vpp.  Ample GND test points are also provided.

This product can be used with the CA201 to make PCMCIA to CF extender.

MCE-Memory Card Explorer Software

The Memory Card Explorer ("MCE" & "MCE/NT") is a graphical Windows software package which provides direct access to the data stored in flash, SRAM and ATA PCMCIA memory PC Cards. It allows the binary "image" of the card data to be saved to or loaded from the hard disk drive in simple and fast operations. Data between any two address blocks can be copied and edited.  The format of the data on the card is unimportant - it could be a TFFS style format, or it could be a proprietary format written by a logger or portable instrument, or it could contain a mixture of formats. In all cases MCE can access the data.  Also included is a card viewer that allows direct hex display of the data on the card.

The MCE turns your computer into a PC-Card duplication station !
